Let me share with you one of my favorite things!
My friend Lauren gave me the book Tattoo Darling: The Art of Angelique Houtkamp a couple of months ago, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever received. As its title suggests, it’s a compilation of Houtkamp’s works and a study of her processes. (She is a Dutch tattoo artist and painter.) She cleanly incorporates themes of romance, old vaudeville, mystery, and wraps them all together with a twist. My favorites are her portraits of women that juxtapose them with other subjects; they’re infused with a subtle, subversive femininity.
