One thing I don’t have in common with many people is my lack of a sweet tooth and general ambivalence for desserts. That changed with Zeolite‘s visit this past weekend, and before I knew it I turned every outing into a search for some kind of confection.
I like food photography because it takes an essential need and modifies it into an art form, a creative process. This seems to be especially true for sweets, which assume a more aesthetic quality than other things we eat. All things considered, I don’t need dessert to survive. Then again – I know plenty who’d disagree.

I LOVE the idea that my presence somehow activates your latent love for desserts.
Wow! what delicious looking sweets, I want to eat them all!!

I love looking at desserts. LOVE. They are the most beautiful things, but they are not food. I usually feel a small craving whenever I’ve seen something particularly pretty, but when I go and try to eat a cupcake or piece of any cake I feel full after one bite. There are very few exceptions to this: my mother’s rhubarb pie and… hm, no, I think that’s it!
I love eating, but I prefer actual food over sweet desserts.
zeolite: it does. completely.
janelle: i knowww. i find the strawberry tarts & the cake with the lavender layer the most appealing!
young: yes. you are so on point. one of my goals for the near future is to make some rhubarb goods. i’d love to make a pie (and a tart, and jam…)
