I’ve been riding this summer lull for a few weeks where I feel perfectly content holing up with a book and going stretches of time without socializing. So when I got a text message sometime last week saying, “We’ve been invited to a cabin the Poconos tonight” it came as a surprise even to myself when I agreed without fully thinking about it. Doubts emerged when I rushed home and blindly tossed together an overnight bag. I was about to call my friends and erase myself from these plans when a text message promptly alerted me that our caravan was waiting in front of my house.
We arrived several hours later, at about 10pm, and left at 3pm the next day. This happened in between:
The cabin was a cabin indeed – very Americana with a sailboat motif.
Ellington in the morning.
View from the front steps.
Some of our friends went sailing while Georgia and I canoed to a nearby island and trespassed on it for awhile. (The sail eventually went up!)
We went swimming, of course.
So did the dogs.

Georgia.

I was thinking about the picture above when I took the following:
And I thought of both of them when I took this.
(Good thing I didn’t back out after all!)

Ohhh what a wonderful spontaneous trip. These photos make me all nostalgic for east coast summers swimming in lakes and relaxing with friends. P.S. Any memorable cafes/stores/restaurants I should hit up in Korea?
let me think, let me think…. emily & i went to a pretty decent cafe in hongdae. (i remember most of the coffee in korea being watered down, in small portions, and overpriced!) D: there was this great arts store in hongdae, too, which was in the same floor as a contemporary art center. they sold nicely designed things and photo zines just like the one you just made! sorry i’m not too helpful with names and details, but i enjoyed roaming around hongdae and wish i had spent more time there! i samcheong-dong was my favorite neighborhood, though.
