cadence

Expired film is like throwing a curve ball straight into your material. Up the grain, warp the colors, destabilize the contrast… I can’t say for sure whether extended time is kind to film, just that one’s mileage will vary each and every time. I put an aged roll of black and white film into my Pentax last summer; not in the interest of making my pictures look particularly hip or defiant, but because of my lack of  ”good” 35mm film at the time. I should have shot this film years ago when it was in its prime, but instead it’s been following me around since early 2008. Present in every refrigerator in every apartment I’ve lived in for the past couple of years, and patient with me as I shuffled it around various produce and condiments.

Images are from last July through earlier this week, posted in no specific order. You’ll even see additional shots from the walk I posted about a few days ago.
