Last night, Georgia and I went to the restaurant Vedge, which just opened in Center City. The owner/chefs of Vedge had another restaurant that I regrettably never made it to before its closing over the summer, and I was determined not to make the same mistake twice. The entire menu here is vegan. Our meal [...] So lately I’ve been finding myself putzing around the kitchen more often than usual. I made my first (!) apple pie a few nights ago, and it was consumed in record time, leaving me no time for documentation. Last night, I decided to a small pizza for Kathryn and myself. To my dismay, the bell [...] My friends hosted a Thanksgiving themed dinner last night. Some of the dishes served included: a lemon & rosemary roasted chicken, couscous with almonds, two casseroles, coconut rice, sweet potato/chickpea/peanut stew, butternut squash soup, butternut squash risotto, several salads, two macaroni and cheeses, homemade pizza, collard greens, and at least five desserts! The [...] One thing I don’t have in common with many people is my lack of a sweet tooth and general ambivalence for desserts. That changed with Zeolite‘s visit this past weekend, and before I knew it I turned every outing into a search for some kind of confection. I like food photography because it takes an [...] My friend Zeolite bore 5+ hours of traffic to come to Philly for the weekend. On her way over, she found out that she was selected for a 2-week arts residency in Helsinki this summer! We took Hugo for a walk, and celebrated afterwards at the tapas bar Valanni. He is so loving [...] Every morning, I miraculously get the coffee machine to start brewing before I can blink my eyes fully open. I eat a bowl of steel cut oats with berries and nuts, the kinds of berries and nuts being the only variables. Sometimes I’ll have toast; other times, I’m too lazy to toast the bread. The [...] I wanted to get my roommate some macarons yesterday. The pastry shop usually has many to choose from, but there were only three kinds. I got one of each. (Pistachio, chocolate & mixed berry) Kathryn & I took advantage of the warm weather last night & went out for dinner instead of staying in. We tried a Korean restaurant pretty close to home. It was her first Korean meal! Everything was delicious, and the portions enormous. On the way home she bought some flowers [...] It’s summertime. My photo class had its last critique tonight. I began writing to give fractional insight to how close knit our group is, but decided several paragraphs in that in spite of my most earnest sentiments, I’ll probably regret weeping all over the internet one day.
