Here’s a thing about boring images: I gravitate towards taking them. For every photo of mine that I think is successfully fraught with meaning and/or interesting composition, I have countless others that are just like hundreds of other photos I’ve taken. They nestle smack center in my comfort zone together. Here’s a few.
I’ve been riding this summer lull for a few weeks where I feel perfectly content holing up with a book and going stretches of time without socializing. So when I got a text message sometime last week saying, “We’ve been invited to a cabin the Poconos tonight” it came as a surprise even [...] A few weeks ago, Ellington and I took our cameras for a walk around our neighborhood. Along the way, we brainstormed art projects, got caught in the rain, and made our final stop at an Indian restaurant where we ordered enough food for a party of five. I haven’t finished my roll of film yet, [...] I came across photographer Jane Tam’s portfolio yesterday. According to her website, Most of her photographic work explores the weaving of Chinese and American cultures and how it defines many offspring of working class immigrants. About three images in, I knew I’d come across something special & deserving of more than a bookmark. Let’s be [...] I’ve had my nose buried in Peter Turnley‘s Parisiens. Here are some of my favorite images and hello, Decisive Moment! [...] I’ve always been interested in homes. What began as an innocent inquiry to find decor inspiration quickly spiraled into jaw-dropping finds of homes crafted into opulent masterpieces. Since I love photographing interior spaces, too, these only amplify my awe. I love the variations of lighting in his works, strong use of geometry, and the Alice in Wonderland references. I love researching and sharing my findings, and it’s nice to have a record of different artists who’ve influence me over the past couple of years.
