up, around, away

00410015

My guess is that these were shot in March.

These are scans that I got back from the lab. They came to me as 72 DPI so they’re pretty wonky. When my neurosis gets to me I’ll re-scan them myself.

late summer afternoon

My boys.

three things i’m telling you

1. I adopted a dog a month ago. His name is Finley and he’s been taking up a lot of my time, bringing me lots of joy. I made him a blog here.

2. I’m slowly getting back into shooting, and just got back some film from the past couple of months.

3. This is [...]

cadence

4-14-12038

Expired film is like throwing a curve ball straight into your material. Up the grain, warp the colors, destabilize the contrast… I can’t say for sure whether extended time is kind to film, just that one’s mileage will vary each and every time. I put an aged roll of black and white film into my Pentax last [...]

from the past year, home & overseas

Here’s a thing about boring images:  I gravitate towards taking them.  For every photo of mine that I think is successfully fraught with meaning and/or interesting composition, I have countless others that are just like hundreds of other photos I’ve taken. secret trip.

CR_dive

I’ve been riding this summer lull for a few weeks where I feel perfectly content holing up with a book and going stretches of time without socializing. So when I got a text message sometime last week saying, “We’ve been invited to a cabin the Poconos tonight” it came as a surprise even [...]

water runs deep

A few weeks ago, Ellington and I took our cameras for a walk around our neighborhood. Along the way, we brainstormed art projects, got caught in the rain, and made our final stop at an Indian restaurant where we ordered enough food for a party of five. I haven’t finished my roll of film yet, [...]

photographs :: jane tam

I came across photographer Jane Tam’s portfolio yesterday. According to her website, Most of her photographic work explores the weaving of Chinese and American cultures and how it defines many offspring of working class immigrants.

About three images in, I knew I’d come across something special & deserving of more than a bookmark. Let’s be [...]

peter turnley and les parisiens

I’ve had my nose buried in Peter Turnley‘s Parisiens. Here are some of my favorite images and hello, Decisive Moment!

domestic decadence

I’ve always been interested in homes. What began as an innocent inquiry to find decor inspiration quickly spiraled into jaw-dropping finds of homes crafted into opulent masterpieces. Since I love photographing interior spaces, too, these only amplify my awe.

(frugal farmhouse design) (last 5 from douglas friedman) (oh darling let’s be adventurers) (last [...]
